the landings boatsheds

These five boatsheds that sit on the canals at Paynesville are a sculptural forms that sit back from the boardwalk and jetties.

the landings boatsheds form part of a subdivision that offers water access to the associated housing lots. These lots look northwards with uninterrupted views across crown land to lake King and the mountains beyond. The boatsheds and associated board walk sit into the canal embankment. They provide a traditional boat storage area which flows out onto a common boardwalk and jetties. The roofs contain alfresco areas with balustrades and timber deck which affords a viewing and entertaining area. Simple external concrete steps connect the upper deck level with the boardwalk level. The building is essentially a concrete and blockwork structure which is clad in spotted gum cladding which is being allowed to “grey-off”. This creates an interesting patina and texture to the sheds which change in colour and texture over time. The main boatshed door is a tilt door clad in semi-opaque polycarbonate cladding that provides good natural light to the interior
