Tinamba House

“The clients purchased this Tinamba farm with the intent of building a new residence that took advantage of the views to the existing lake and extensive rural surrounds.”

This house is located in Tinamba near Maffra and had an existing farm house that was demolished for the new build. The client wanted a two storey house with the intent to place the bedrooms on the first floor to take in the views of the surrounding rural area. The ground floor opens into the North facing open plan living area with the meals area and kitchen adjacent.  A laundry and office are tucked away towards the South with access to the garage and services courtyard. Outside on the North is an entertainment area that can be enclosed with retractable, hidden fly screens.  The guest wing is on the West has its own bathroom and can be closed off from the rest of the house. The first floor can be reached via the stair or a lift. The first floor has two North facing bedrooms with an ensuite each. There is also a sitting room at this level with views to the North and South as well as terraces.

The building uses a simple palette of materials with white as the predominant colour with dark exposed timber details to give the building a “Japanese” feel. The entry side of the house uses a red colour to break up the façade and add interest against the green surrounds.

The interior again has a simple palette of materials with predominately white walls, timber floors and monotone accents. The intent for this interior is to be restrained and not to compete with the views to the exterior as well as allowing the client to add interest through the decoration.
